Obituary

Isabelle "Jean" Block, age 84, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, and formerly of Rockford, IL, Green Lake, WI, Winnetka, IL, and Olympia Fields, IL, died Monday, April 18, at Windsor's Johnson Healthcare Center. She was born October 25, 1920 in Duluth, MN.

Jean was the oldest of five children. During World War II she worked for the US Government in Washington D.C., then joined the United States Cadet Nurse Corps after earning her degree at the University of Minnesota. Jean enjoyed being a full-time mother and was actively involved in her church. She was an avid gardener and bird watcher.

She is survived by her four daughters, Pat (Alan) Unander of Wheaton, Carol (Allan) Dalton of Westlake Village, CA, Beverly (Reiner) Rehbein of Kenora, Ontario, CAN, and Priscilla (John) Eckhardt of Mobile, AL; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her four brothers, Bud (Norma), Mac (Marie), David (Lorna), and Paul (Norma) Kirk.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; and her parents, Arthur and Laura Kirk.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 24, from 1:30 P.M. until the time of a service at 2:30 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Wheaton, 1310 N. Main St. Interment is private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
