July 12, 1956 – December 7, 2022
J.D. Foster, age 66, a resident of Huntley, and a former lifelong resident of Wheaton, IL, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital in Huntley. He was born July 12, 1956 in Elmhurst to Robert and Edna Foster.
He grew up in Wheaton and graduated from Wheaton North in 1974. After attending Multnomah Bible College, he returned to Wheaton where he was a volunteer fireman and studied at the College of DuPage. He met Carole Lawrence at the First Baptist Church of Wheaton. They were married on November 1, 1980 at First Baptist Church of Wheaton where he took a job as a custodian. He worked in security at Wheaton College, at Marianjoy and then at F.E. Wheaton Lumber Company. In 2017, he retired from F.E. Wheaton.
J.D. enjoyed collecting coins and stamps. He liked to camp and fish as well as hiking. He also enjoyed reading, especially science fiction and fantasy. He was good with his hands and enjoyed repairing and doing projects around the home.
His Christian faith was important to him and he was a member of a number of Bible Studies. He was a longtime member of Glen Ellyn Covenant Church and had attended Wheaton Bible Church. He enjoyed being with people and enjoyed being an usher. He served at church with the Children's ministry.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Foster, three children, Lauren (Ryan) Kolbe of Montgomery, IL, Brent (Qua) Foster of Hawaii, and Dan (Erin) Foster of Crystal Lake, IL, four grandchildren, Ben, Connor, Abby and Kai, one sister, Sherrill Whittern of Michigan and one brother, Bob (Ruth) Foster of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his sister Jenny of Pekin, IL.
A visitation will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon at Wheaton Bible Church, 27W500 North Ave., West Chicago, IL, where a funeral service will follow at 12:00 Noon.
Memorial gifts may be directed to American Diabetes Association.
