Obituary

Janice "Jan" Johnson, age 70, a resident of Wheaton IL, died Thursday, November 3,2011 at home. She was born April 9, 1941 in Springville, PA, to Raymond and Harriet Mitchell.

Jan was known for her loving commitment to God and to her family. A member of Faith Baptist Church in Winfield, Jan was involved in the Awana program and also served with disability ministries at the College Church of Wheaton. She enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, and hiking; and participated in the Chicago Marathon several times. Jan enjoyed traveling to national parks as well as to other countries, and lived in Brazil for six years. She served her community as a member of the Friends of the Wheaton Municipal Band. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren and will be missed by all.

She is survived by her husband, Karl Johnson; her mother, Harriet Mitchell; her children, Kristyn (Michael) Akert, Loren (Lisa) Johnson, Erik (Melissa) Johnson, Karilyn Johnson and Dr. April (Tony) Johnson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mitchell, Nicole, and Daniel Johnson, Karl, Emma, Mark and William Akert, Sophia Johnson and a baby boy due soon.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Mitchell.

A visitation will be held Friday, November 11, 2011 from 4-8 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 27W010 Parkway Dr. in Winfield where a funeral service will be held on Saturday November 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.
