Janice Lee Adair, nee Miller, born January 27, 1953, passed away peacefully at home on Friday June 23, 2023.  Jan was loved and is survived by her husband of 36 years Scott Adair, a brother, a niece and 3 nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Jan was born in Rockford, Illinois and was raised in Joliet, Illinois.  After graduating from Western Illinois University, she followed in her father's footsteps and began working at Illinois Bell. She remained with the phone company working in various positions and locations until her retirement. While working full time, Jan obtained a BA degree from North Central College.

Jan was known for the many friends she had and for being a wonderful friend to all who knew her. She was so much like her mother and father in that she never met a stranger. In a crowd you could always hear her laughter.  One of her many loves was to travel. She and Scott enjoyed traveling to historic cities where they stayed in B&Bs to learn more about the area. She liked cruises and of course visiting family in Florida.

Jan had studied art and took up painting in her spare time. She helped with scenery for local stage productions and has also painted pictures for friends.  She was a true cat lover, and throughout her life she always had at least one cat. Many of them were rescues. She was a long time Bears fan, and a true Cubs fan.

Finally Scott wishes to thank the many family and friends for the gifts of time, friendship, and prayers throughout Jan's illness.

A memorial celebration of Jan's life will be held at Gary United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187, on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
