Janette A. Trofimuk, 87, formerly of Wheaton, Westchester and Oak Park, passed away on March 11, 2024.  A sweet, gentle woman, Janette worried more about others than herself.  If you needed help, she wanted to give what she could, always trying to anticipate needs and meet them even before you knew they existed. If you mentioned a problem, she would research a solution.  Janette loved information and was masterful at building a library on any topic of interest to her and her family.  Her Masters in Library Science and career as a medical librarian at Hinsdale Hospital, Edwards Hospital and Elmhurst College, made her our google long before google existed.  A collector, Janette explained, was who she was and if not for her amazing organizational skills, there would never have been enough storage.  Everything had its place and there was a place for everything.  Each spot had a purpose, with each item neatly labeled and placed.  She loved art, music, theatre, dance, painting, sculpture, cinema, and literature, seeing beauty in everything and kindness in everyone.  Understanding was her gift; she sought to see each side of any issue, longed for peace, wanted everyone to be happy and feel cared about.  Her children and grandchildren always came first, never wanting to miss an opportunity to spend time with family.  A close second, was her love of desserts.  Though a fine dining foodie, a backyard barbecue would never be missed. As long as her family was happy and desserts were served, she would smile that soft warm smile that conveyed her warm heart and gentle soul.  She will be dearly missed.

Born August 28, 1936, the daughter of the late Honorable Leo and Burma Ester (Bunnie) Poch, Janette was married for 65 years, to her loving husband, John V. Trofimuk who passed away in 2022.  She was the loving mother of John (Jean) Trofimuk, the late Mark Trofimuk, Richard (May) Trofimuk, James (Marianne Stanke) Trofimuk, Marie (Larry) Hall, and the late Anthony (Patricia) Trofimuk. Beloved grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of 15.

A wake will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187, along with a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass to be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at St. Daniel Catholic Church, 101 W. Loop Rd., Wheaton, IL 60189.  Burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, in Hillside where she will rest alongside her husband and two sons.
