Obituary

Janet Elaine Boevers (nee Ellison), (88), known as "Poozy" of Elmhurst, IL., died peacefully in the presence of her family on November 5, 2025. She was born in Chicago, IL on November 23,1936 to her parents, Harold and Clara Ellison. She moved to the new family home in Elmhurst shortly after her birth. She attended Lincoln Elementary, Hawthorne Jr. High, and graduated from York Community High School in 1954. She graduated from Elmhurst College in 1960 and had a career of over thirty years as a speech pathologist.

Janet and Donald M. Boevers were married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Villa Park, IL on December 27, 1958. They had two children, Christine L. (James) Currieri and George E. Boevers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Norman L. Ellison. Janet is Survived by her sister, Mary E. Madding (Robert deceased), her son George, her daughter Christine and her husband James, her grandson Andrew and his wife Kelly, and her two great grandchildren Kaitlin and Jacob.

Janet was born a happy girl and enjoyed life and friends that she met easily and remained a faithful friend for many years. She liked people and enjoyed the opportunity to teach children with speech and hearing needs. She often held positions of leadership throughout her education. She was musical and for four years in high school maintained the position of First Place Oboe in the State of Illinois. She was a wonderful swimmer and entertained friends entering the water without a ripple as her toes slipped into the water. She enjoyed ice skating and was an avid follower of hockey games as well as baseball. She simply enjoyed her world.

She will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. A loyal friend.

The Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday November 16, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM, at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. A private inurnment is planned at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery, 17W201 Roosevelt Road Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181.
