Obituary

Jane Elizabeth Nolan, age 85, a longtime resident of Lombard, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 16, 2017. She was born November 15, 1932 in Hammond, Indiana to Anthony and Josephine Voss.

Jane grew up in Calumet City , the youngest of three children. While attending Loyola University she meet the love of her life William Nolan. They were married on April 28, 1956. They raised six children in Lombard. Jane and Bill were active members of the Lombard Gospel Chapel.

After facing one of the toughest challenges in her life, losing her dear husband Bill at a young age of 51, she faced widowhood with five of her children still at home. Jane faced this challenge with strength and perseverance.

She enjoyed traveling, knitting, crocheting, bowling, and playing both the piano and organ. She served with the Prison Fellowship Ministry at Cook County Jail. She also was a camp counselor and cook at Lake Geneva Youth Camp. She actively was involved within her church serving in various ministries like Vacation Bible School, Awana Club, and the nursery Sunday School. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jane can be remembered as a self-sacrificing, fun-loving, kind, and a social person who instantly made everyone she meet feel like a long lasting friend. Her deep faith sustained her positive attitude throughout her entire life.

She is survived by five children , Mary (Jeff) Arhart of Bartlett, Brian (Laura) Nolan of St. Charles, Julie (Daryl) Palumbo of Geneva, Erin (Richard ) Ulrich of Naperville and John (Denise) Nolan of Arizona daughter-in-law, Lynette Nolan, 17 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sally Voss. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, William, her parents, son, Kevin Nolan and grandson, Shane.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Lombard Gospel Chapel, 369 N. Stewart, Lombard, IL 60148. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 until the time of the service at 10:00. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.
