Jan Forler, age 56, a 25 year resident of Wheaton, IL, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones in view of her garden on Friday, May 11, 2012. She was born January 5, 1956 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to Dr. Glen and Dorothy Hutchison.

She grew up in Guelph, Ontario, Canada where she attended Centennial CVI High School. In 1973 she met Scott Forler, and they moved to Kitchener-Waterloo where she worked in the insurance industry while Scott attended University of Waterloo. They were married on June 2, 1979 after Scott graduated. They moved to Toronto where Jan completed her computer degree and continued to work in the insurance industry. In 1986 they moved to Wheaton where they started and raised their family.

While raising her family she taught sewing. In 1996 she helped start her husband's business, PrairieWeb Internet Marketing, as a web developer. During this time she became an active member of the Wheaton Garden Club, where she shared her passion of gardening. She was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed traveling and sailing with her husband and family. In February of this year she backpacked for a month with her husband through Argentina.

She learned she had cancer while being treated for severe injuries received in a motorcycle accident. She fought cancer for 6 years but didn't alter her lifestyle and positive outlook on life. She was an inspiration to others. During this time she continued to actively learn and pursue new interests. She learned to play the violin, learned Spanish and loved to crochet. She regularly crocheted baby blankets and donated them to the People's Resource Center in Wheaton. She was also an active member of the B.R. Ryall YMCA.

She is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband, Scott Forler of Wheaton, daughter, Alisha, son, Robert and his wife Samiyah, father, Dr. Glen and stepmother Marian Hutchison of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, sisters Sandra, Marlene, Norma and her husband Jacob, Diane and her husband Ian, stepsisters, Joy and her husband John, Donna and her husband Gord, sister-in-law, Kim, mother-in-law, June Forler and many nieces.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187.
