Obituary

Jamie Marie Colvin Choate, our gift from God, was born November 26, 1966. She entered into God's Eternal Kingdom on November 24, 2022 at the age of 55. Of the many wonderful compliments honoring Jamie, we repeatedly hear how loving, gracious and kind she was. Jamie had only two weeks to process the news that she was diagnosed with end stage pancreatic cancer with metastasis to the liver and stomach lining. With faith in Christ as her Savior, Jamie faced her illness with grace & courage by displaying love for those around her. Truly, she was a gift of love, grace and kindness to all of us who knew her. One statement that honors Jamie's love and concern for others was the statement made by Jamie's Pastor: "No one brought more people to church than Jamie". This is comforting, and reveals Jamie's faith & love for God.

As a child, and well into her teens, Jamie enjoyed dolls and designing doll clothes. With the sewing skills she developed in high school; Jamie made a hobby of designing doll clothes.  After graduation from Glenbard North in 1984, Jamie started her first job at Toys R Us; where she met and later married James Choate, in 1991. Two people perfectly matched in their character traits of love, grace and kindness, made for a happy home. God blessed Jamie and Jim, with two sons,  Andrew in 1995 and Matthew in 2000. Jamie liked how women were holding political office and was beaming with female pride when Jayne Byrne became mayor of Chicago. The fact that Hillary Rodham Clinton used both her maiden and married last names lit the fire for Jamie to become Jamie Marie Colvin Choate.

Jim worked hard, while providing Jamie with the privilege to be a stay at home mother, enjoying her hobby of crafting doll clothes for her doll collections, and caring for their two sons. Church, school activities, car shows, computer games, Facebook friends and family activities filled Jamie's life.

Jamie is survived by her husband of 31 years, James Choate; her sons Andrew & Matthew; her parents James & Sharon Colvin; her brother James Colvin Jr.; sister in law Sandy Choate; brother in law Joseph Choate; and numerous other relatives and friends. One particular friend was a priceless gift to Jamie, her dear and loving friend, Tammie Casper.  They did everything together: taking their kids to school, shopping, and sharing many daily activities together. People would refer to them as sisters, because they were always together. Over 18 years they supported each other daily.

Jamie was preceded in death by her grandmothers: Marie Jones & Freda Marie Colvin;  her dearly loved mother in law Pat Choate & father in law Cal Choate; her aunts: Patricia Lynge, Carolyn Bridgmon McKenna & Edith Alleman; and her uncles: John Colvin & Rodney Jones Jr.

Any cards, and or gift cards would be appreciated for Jamie's husband and sons. They can be mailed to a secure locking mailbox at: 1221 Trinity Drive, Carol Stream, IL 60188. They will then be delivered to Jim, Andrew & Matthew Choate.

A visitation will be held at Fellowship Church, 130 Shawnee Dr, Carol Stream, IL 60188, on Saturday, April 8, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m.
