James A. Youker Sr., age 92, a longtime resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. He was born December 2, 1922 in Oak Park, IL to Claude "Pappy" and Marguerite "Mammy" Youker.
He grew up in Wheaton and graduated from Wheaton Community High School. During WWII he served in the 353rd Infantry, 89th Division "Rolling W" in Europe. After the war, he became a court reporter and met Constance Craddle. They were married on July 4th, 1952. They raised their family in Wheaton and established Youker Court Reporters. They also served as official court reporters for the State of Illinois. James served as the administrator of Court Reporters for DuPage County, in the 18th Judicial Circuit Court until retirement.
He was an intellectual who enjoyed reading and classical music. He and his wife, Constance, enjoyed bowling for many years. His loved his time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
James is survived by three sons, James Jr., Andrew and Timothy; his daughters, Constance and Coral; grandchildren, Joseph, Princeton, Austen, Danielle, Alexis and Dallis; great-grandson, Samuel and great-granddaughter, Charlotte, his sister-in-law, Margaret Youker and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Constance in 2012, his son, Christopher, his parents and six siblings.
Interment will be held on Friday, July 31st at Wheaton Cemetery at 12:00 p.m.
