James Burke Thomas, age 76, of Wheaton, IL died Friday, June 22 in Wheaton, IL. He was the loving husband of Rosalie, nee Utech, and the adored father of daughters Kelly Murphy and Sara Woods. He is survived by grandchildren, Jimmy, and wife, Heidi Murphy, Laura Murphy, Joseph Murphy, Jonathan Woods, Michael Woods and Ellen Woods. He is also survived by sister-in-law Evelyn Thomas of Springfield, IL. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, J. Glenn and Birdella Thomas of Mt. Sterling, IL, and brother Gordon Thomas.
Jim was born October 5, 1935 in Beardstown, IL, and was a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria. Jim was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He worked as a civil engineer for Professional Service Industries until his retirement. In the past decade, he enjoyed part-time employment at Arrowhead Golf Club.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 27 at St. John Lutheran Church at 410 North Cross in Wheaton IL , 60187, with parking off Main Street. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to St. John's Church stained glass window fund.
