James V. Scelfo, age 69, a resident of Lisle, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021.  He was born May 30, 1952 in Chicago to James & Mary Scelfo.

Jim graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago with a B.A. in business. He pursued his career as an accountant in the business division at UIC for 27 years. He retired at the age of 55.
He persevered in living with epilepsy for 40 years. The Epilepsy Foundation was very important to him and he advocated for the help and hope of others who also lived with epilepsy.

Over the years, Jim also sponsored a child through Unbound, an organization that provides medical help and education to children in less fortunate countries.

Jim loved gardening and landscaping. He always enjoyed outdoor recreation. He enjoyed watching western flicks and was a big fan of NASCAR. Problem solving and analysis was always something that kept him thoughtful in his day to day activities--he was always considering every option when fixing something or finding resources to learn how to do something himself.
Jim was a member of St. Margaret Mary parish for 32 years. He always joined in charitable activities. He loved family gatherings and spending time with the people closest to him.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nancy; his children Christine & Michael Scelfo; his siblings Anthony (Valentina) Scelfo, Josephine (David) Thorne & Lola (Dale) Mular; and many nieces & nephews.

A visitation will be held at St. Margaret Mary Church , 1450 Green Trails Dr, Naperville, IL 60540, on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery in Naperville.
