James H. Polcaster, age 87, a resident of Willowbrook, IL, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago, IL. He was born October 8, 1923 in Chicago, IL.
Jim would most want to be remembered as a faithful follower of Christ. He served in the Navy during World War II. Many knew him as Jimmy Mac because he sold Mac Tools for almost 40 years. His hobbies included playing chess, gardening and golf. He was an active member of New Hope Church in Alsip, IL.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary; three children, Charles (Alice) of Palos Heights, IL, Susan (Michael) Kelley of Libertyville, IL, and George (Heidi) of Downers Grove, IL; 13 grandchildren, Jim, Gina, Erik, and Tony, Andy and Amy, Katie, Thomas and Teddy, and Lukas, Ava, Stella and Grayson; three great-grandchildren, Thomas, Tory and Caleb; his sister, Lois Wright of Aurora, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty (nee Mohr); his son, Richard; his infant son, Stephen; and his brother, Robert.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2010 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of a funeral service to be held at 11:00 A.M. at New Hope Church, 5100 W. 115th St., Alsip, IL 60803. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens South in Oak Lawn, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the church.
