Jim was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on August 10th, 1949. He passed away peacefully with his family on June 9th, 2026 in Wheaton, Illinois at the age of 76. He grew up in Martinsville, Illinois where his family owned and operated the Newman Apple Orchard. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Roy, J. Newman and Ruby Jane Ulrey and his sister Martha Marquess, and his niece Susanna Flood.
He attended Eastern Illinois University and completed his undergraduate work at DePaul University in Chicago. Jim received an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1987. Jim also served in the Illinois Army National Guard for seven years as a sergeant first class in the Army Corps of Engineers.
Jim met the love of his life, Georgina, on a blind date in 1968. They married in 1970 and lived and loved each other for 56 years. Jim cherished the time spent with his son, Jon; they loved spending time near the water, especially in Key West, Florida. He is survived by his wife, Georgina, who lives in Wheaton, IL, and his son Jonathan of St. Augustine, Florida.
Jim started his career at GTE automatic electric, then moved onto Kansas City at Sprint, where they brought fiber optics to the market. He went on to start Dial Call in Atlanta followed by a time with San Francisco Consulting Group. That opportunity led him to travel to places all over the world. He caught the travel bug and never stopped. He started and built ICG in Denver, and then he became a partner with KPMG, which took him to the Middle East and all over Europe. Ernst and Young followed, as well as other consulting engagements. He finished his career working with his son at PrologMobile. He loved technology and experiencing different cultures.
Jim had an incredible sense of humor. He was always ready for a Portillo's hotdog. Jim enjoyed biking, skeet shooting, hiking, and fly-fishing. Nature was his playground. His wife and his son were his world.
