James "Jim" Kirkwood, age 69, a resident of Wheaton, died January 21, at Lexington Health Care Center in Lombard, Illinois. He was born August 11, 1942 in Chicago .

For a number years, Jim was the owner of the former Highland Centre Pharmacy. He loved the people he served and especially enjoyed the children. He was always anxious to help people and will be missed by many. Jim loved the outdoors, in his free time he loved to garden and work in the yard. His passion was his work.

He is survived by his wife, Cora Kirkwood of Wheaton, his sisters, Peg (Glen) Dunn of Schaumburg, IL, Alice (Dave) McLintock of New Boston, TX, and Marilyn (Mike) Cotiguala of Homer Glen and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Julie (Bill) Heitz of Glen Ellyn.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, IL. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Hultgren Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
