Obituary

James Brian Johnson, 66, of Wheaton, IL, died peacefully at home on December 7, 2020 from complications of Covid-19. Jamie was born in Omaha, NE on April 9, 1954 to Francis Meridith and Mary Frances Johnson.

He was the middle of seven children, and the loving heart of his family. Every day of his life, he blessed those around him with his limitless gift for happiness. His innocent enjoyment of every event, both the everyday and the milestones, brought a special warmth and importance to them. He enjoyed everyone's birthday candles as much as his own. He loved Christmas lights and car trips and a beer on a hot day after a swim, especially if stolen from someone else's glass. Though he never spoke a word in his life, he taught all who knew him what it was to live life with childlike joy. Because of Jamie, so many of the memories of his brother and sisters have a special gleam to them. His sweet smile as he leaned in for a kiss will be missed more than can be expressed.

Jamie is survived by his brother, Charles, who has been Jamie's loving and devoted caregiver for many years, by his sisters Adrienne (Fred) Goodwin, Carol Johnson (Michael King), Mary (Tim) Fahey, and Nancy Johnson (Dennis) Busch, by his nephews Graham Goodwin, Gerald (Maria) Goodwin, Jason (Renee) Busch, Joshua (Leah) King, and Adam (Jennifer) King, by his niece Gillian Goodwin (Ben McCullough), and by his great-nieces and great-nephews Isaac, Landon, Oliver, Piper, Maya, and Lane.

Jamie was predeceased by his father and mother, and his sister Kate Johnson (Marc Dufour).

Services will be arranged at a future date when travel will again be possible.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Adult Down Syndrome Center, 1610 Luther Lane, Park Ridge, IL. 60068, Adult Down Syndrome Center , in deepest gratitude to Dr. Brian Chicoine and all of the staff for their many years of excellent care and kindness to Jamie.
