James A. Gary 83, of Lisle, IL passed away in his sleep on March 24, 2015. He had suffered from COPD for the past several years. He was the tenth child of eleven children of George William and Erma Elizabeth Gary. His only living sibling is his brother, Ed Gary of Cottage Grove, OR.
He was born and raised in Wheaton, IL and graduated from Wheaton Community High School in 1950. He was a good athlete and participated and lettered in three sports both his junior and senior years. In his senior year the football team won the Little Seven Title. He, along with Jim Balog and Dick Balzhiser were recruited to play for the University of Michigan. Jim played and lettered his freshmen year. He graduated with a Bachelors and Masters degree from the U of M in accounting. Upon graduation he served two years as a lieutenant in the US Marine Corp.
Following military service he returned to Wheaton and in 1958 he married Barbara Leech (deceased). After passing the Illinois CPA exam, Jim worked for the accounting firm of Arthur Young and later became a Partner with Alexander Grant.
He is survived by his three sons and six grandchildren. Jeff (Marie) of Princeton, NJ and their three children, Kevin, Scott, and Jaclyn; Brad (Christy) of Glen Ellyn , IL and sons Clark and Jacob; and David (Nancy) of Olathe, KS and their daughter, Skylar.
Visitation will be at Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton from 12 - 1 PM on Friday, April 3, 2015. A service will then follow at 1 PM. Immediately following the service, interment will take place at the Wheaton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
