James "Jim" Fabrie, age 89, a resident of Covenant Living in Northbrook, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026.  He was born August 3, 1936 in Chicago, IL to James & Ruth Fabrie.

Jim was born and grew up on the North side of Chicago. He attended Steinmetz High School and North Park College.

As a child, he attended Midwest Bible Church and The Northside Gospel Center, he was active with AWANA clubs and camp. Jim put his faith in Christ during a Backyard Bible Club around the age of 10. As an adult, he was a member of Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church, where he served as both a deacon and treasurer.

He married his wife Phyllis after serving 2 yrs in the Army, and remained a National Guardsman for the first two years of their marriage. Jim and Phyllis lived in Glenview until 2020, but their Bermuda honeymoon was when Jim realized he loved to travel. He visited all 50 states and traveled internationally, for pleasure and mission trips. He also enjoyed time in their Florida condo in Hillsboro Beach and a summer home in northwest Indiana.

For 39 years, Jim worked for Deublin Company as COO during a time of growth at the company, and was responsible for HR as well as new product cost estimating.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Phyllis (Nee Peota); his children, Denise Warner, James (Kris) Fabrie; his grandchildren Annalynn (Darryll) Timperley, George Warner, Jessica Warner, Alexandra (Noah) Hollinger; Carter (Shannon) Fabrie, Victoria (Sam) Grev, Ethan (Anne) Fabrie, Theodore Warner, Meredith Warner; his great grandchildren Jack, Flora, Harvey, Greta, and Ana.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Janet and brother-in-law, Joseph Grippo.

A visitation will be held at Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church, 2 Shermer Rd, Glenview, IL 60025, on Saturday,  January 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. The service will be livestreamed on the church's Facebook page here: Memorial Service for Jim Fabrie . Burial will be private at Memory Gardens in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
