Obituary

James A. Erickson, age 90, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on May 8, 2019, at Wynscape Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wheaton, Illinois. He was born May 21, 1928 in Highland Park, Illinois to Alexander and Julia Erickson.

Jim grew up in the northern suburbs of Chicago. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He followed in his father's footsteps as a carpenter, working in the trade until retirement at age 65. As an adult he earned an Associates Degree from College of Lake County. He continued to take art classes, producing works in both oil and watercolor.

He was a lifelong Chicago sports fan, especially the Chicago Cubs. He was an active person who built his own home in Third Lake, Illinois, while working full time. An active member of AA, he earned his 50 year medallion in 2011. He also counseled many others toward sobriety. He and Nancy attended Pleasant Hill Community Church in Wheaton.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Nancy Erickson, step-sons, Mark Gillen, Gary (Suzanne) Gillen and Bob (Debbie) Gillen, and two grandchildren, Jack and Annie Gillen.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Jr. in 2014.

A memorial service will be held at Windsor Park. Please check back for date and time.

Private interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
