Obituary

James F. Eberhart, age 81, a longtime resident of Wheaton, IL, died peacefully at home on Saturday, October 26, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born July 19, 1938 in Charleston, West Virginia to Francis and Nelva Eberhart.

Jim was the son of an Army officer and lived in various towns throughout his childhood. He graduated from high school in Montgomery, West Virginia and then from West Virginia University where he was an Eagle Scout. He served in the U.S. Army and the Army reserves. After his service he began a long career with Western Electric, which became AT&T. In 1977 he was transferred and moved to Wheaton.

He loved to travel and enjoyed maps. He was mechanically minded and good with his hands. He enjoyed maintaining his home and cut his own grass until recently.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Eberhart, two children, Jane (the late Thomas) Walsh of Charlotte, NC, James (Mary Ann) Eberhart of Oswego, IL, and nine grandchildren, Adam T. Walsh, Christopher J. Walsh, Jake P. Eberhart, Grace K. Walsh, Emily K. Eberhart, James W. Eberhart, Will M. Eberhart, Joseph K. Walsh and Nora E. Walsh. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019, at Trinity Episcopal Church Chapel , 130 N. West Street, Wheaton, IL 60187 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
