James Howard Cobb, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed from this life on Friday, May 13, 2022 at the age of 72 years old.

James was born to Walter Hill and Josephine Cobb July 8, 1949 in Murphysboro, Illinois. James accepted Christ into his life at the age of 12. He knew and understood, even then, the importance of Christ being the focal point for his family. During his high school tenure, James attended Carbondale Community High School and upon graduation went on to study engineering at Southern Illinois University.

In 1976, James married his lifelong partner and confidant, Allyce Chambers, and welcomed her son, Shannon Chambers into his life with an open heart. James' son, Keith Cobb, resides with his mother but was loved deeply by his father. In the coming years, James and Allyce would expand their family with the births of two sons to their union: Brandon James Cobb and Ryan Howard Cobb.

After settling in Elgin, IL to raise their children, the Cobb family started attending Wheaton Christian Center Church in 1986 under the pastoral care of the late Pastor Carlton Arthurs.

After 30+ years at Lucent Technologies in Lisle, Illinois, James retired in May of 2002. He went on to work for School District U46 as a bus driver until his second retirement in May of 2022.

James was preceded in death by both parents, Father Walter Hill, Mother Josepine Cobb. Sister Jean and Brother Clarence Cobb.

James leaves behind to mourn his death his beloved wife Allyce (Chambers) Cobb and four sons': Keith Cobb, Shannon (Deborah) Chambers, Brandon Cobb, and Ryan Cobb. Sister's: Linda (Gary) Dysart and Margie Cobb. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A visitation will be held at Wheaton Christian Center - North Aurora Campus , 161 S Lincolnway, Suite 309, North Aurora, IL 60542, on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. The service will be livestreamed through this link: Livestream Funeral Service for James Cobb . Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin, Illinois.
