Jacqueline G. Schlifke, age 68, a resident of Carol Stream, IL, died Monday, October 13, 2014, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. She was born July 7, 1946 in Chicago to Herman and Maxine Smith.
Jacqueline grew up in Provo, Utah. She moved back to Chicago and graduated from South Shore High School. She also graduated from George Williams College where she met Richard Schlifke. They were married on December 20, 1969. Jackie loved her job as a cosmetics representative at Macy's where she worked for over 40 years, first in Oakbrook Mall and then at Stratford Square Mall.
She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton where she served as a deacon and was a part of the Elizabeth Circle. She loved to dance, and enjoyed music and gardening. She especially loved being with her family; bringing them together for Monday night family dinners and holidays. She also loved to travel, going out for margaritas, her dogs and the home that she and her husband and family shared together.
She is survived by four children, Angelie Schlifke of Carol Stream, Lyndee (Chris) Denzler of Novi, MI, Bradley Schlifke of Carol Stream, and Zachary Schlifke of Bartlett, two granddaughters, Lauren and Katelyn Denzler, one sister, Maryalice (Ho) Yu and one brother, Seaborn Smith, and nieces and nephews including: Tyler Yu, Tamara (Robert) Fetzer and Christy Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard and her parents.
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 16, from 3 until 9 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. Wheaton, IL 60187. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17, at 11:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, the corner of Jefferson and Ellis St. in Wheaton. Interment will follow at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois.
