Obituary

Jack A. Keating, age 84, a 53 year resident of Wheaton, died Tuesday, November 16, at home at Wyndemere Retirement Community. He was born on May 5, 1920 in Chicago to Arthur and Erma Keating.

He was a graduate of Oak Park-River Forest High School and attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison until enlisting in the Air Corps in 1944. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the 8th Air Force, 381st Bomb Group (H) from June '44 to February '45. He flew 35 missions in the European Theater, including missions over Germany and France, as a bombardier with the 535th Squadron. He was awarded many medals and honors including the Distinguished Flying Cross.

After his service, he attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago, where he met Norma Bebber, who he married in 1951. He began his career as an art director at Sigman Advertising Agency. He worked at Feldcamp Malloy, and became a partner at Martin Trlak Agency for 10 years. He joined UVG&N where he continued to serve his major client, Keebler Company, until he retired at age 81. He was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, where he served as a trustee, and he later attended Naperville Presbyterian Church.

Jack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Norma, three sons, Scott (Nancy) of Snowmass, CO, Todd (Tammy) of Naperville, and Kevin (Suzanne) of Aurora, six grandchildren, Kyle, Amanda, Greg, Lauren, Leah, and Jackson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Arthur J. Keating Jr.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, from 3 until 9 p.m at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Auditorium at Wyndemere Retirement Community, 200 Wyndemere Cir. in Wheaton. A private interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
