Jack Woodson Daniel, age 93, a longtime resident of the Wheaton area, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. He was born February 10, 1924 in Oak Park to Jasper Woodson and Dorothy Daniel.
Jack grew up on the northwest side of Chicago and attended Steinmetz High School and Wheaton College. He served as pastor of Nevins Lake Bible Church in Stanton, Michigan until joining the staff of Youth For Christ in Chicago. He served them for 30 years, 25 as executive director for Chicagoland YFC. From 1983 until recently he worked as real estate agent in the Wheaton area, retiring at the age of 90.
His Christian faith was central to his life. He authored a book called "Teens Are Almost Human" and hosted radio and TV programs. He enjoyed tennis and was a lifelong Cubs' fan. He loved to travel, going to Alaska, Hawaii and Canada.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Daniel, daughters, Deborah (Linda Novinger) Daniel, Susan Joy (Robert) Durovey-Antrim and Phyllis (Dave) Reinbold, five grandchildren, Nicole (Joe) Heiman, Joel (Kristyn) Daniel, Eric Daniel, Lance (Rebecca) Durovey, and Jesse (Tamara) Durovey, and seven great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Jasper, Sawyer, Ethan, Caleb, Owen and Rachel.
He was preceded in death by one son, David, daughter, Mary Dawn, his parents and his sister, Dorothy Davis.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 18, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Glen Oak Cemetery in West Chicago, Illinois.
