Obituary

J. David Schmidt, Sr., age 80, a resident of Wheaton, and formerly of Western PA, went to be with his Lord, on Thursday, December 7, at home. He was born September 21, 1926 in McKeesport, PA.

David was a Pastor with the Christian and Missionary Alliance and served for over 38 years. He began his ministry at the Ottawa Gospel Tabernacle in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He pastored churches in Gypsy, Williamsburg, Morrel, Coalport, Butler, and Punxsutawney, PA. After retirement, his ministry continued at Living Bibles International, World Evangelical Fellowship, and as the Pastor on Staff at Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton, IL. He was a regular attender at the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church, in Wheaton, IL.

He enjoyed hymns of the church, playing the trombone, and the wonder of God's creation. He was known as a Preacher who focused on the character of God, and His faithfulness to keep His promises.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie W. (nee Mackay); three children, Mary Esther (Jim) Bolton of Latrobe, PA, J. David Jr. (Melinda) of Wheaton, IL, Miriam (Mark) Volle of Fullerton, CA; six grandchildren, Jeannie, Jill, Jamie, Jesse, Kelly, and Kevin; seven great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Anthony, Elianna, Madison, Veronica, Sophia, and Kyla; his brother, Bill Schmidt; his sisters, Mary Jane (Jim) Tauber, and Gloria (Stan) Doran; various foster siblings raised by his mother; his aunts, Virginia Maurer of FL, and Anna Schmidt of West VA; and various cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marybelle Schmidt.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9, from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., and again on Sunday, December 10, from 2:00 P.M. until the time of a service at 3:00 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. An interment service will be held on Tuesday, December 12, at 11:00 A.M. at Grandview Cemetery, 1301 Lincoln Highway, North Versailles Township, PA, 15137.
