Irma Roush was the fourth child born to Delbert and Jennie Roush on March 5, 1914. They lived in the foothills of southern Ohio near Ironton. Irma loved her brother, Ronald, and her two sisters, Audrey and Lucille. Irma and Ronald, the youngest in their family, were inseparable and had many memories playing and fishing in the hills near their home. Brother Ronald (97) is living with his daughter, Barbara and Craig Brown in Michigan.
She married Edgar Bode in 1942 and lived in several Ohio towns. Edgar was a manager at Woolworth's and was tranferred several times throughout their marriage. Irma has two sons, Glen H. (Joanne) and Carl R. (Linda) and three grandchildren, Bryan C. (Leighann), Paul M. (Lori), and Julie K. Bode.
Sadly, Irma was widowed on March 4, 1966. After the death of Edgar, she became a registered nurse and worked in the Cardiac Unit at a hospital in Warren, Ohio. While in Niles and in her late 60s and 70s, she danced competitively with the Fred Astaire studios and received dancing awards and trophies in her age group.
She remained in Niles, Ohio until 16 years ago when she moved to the Wheaton area to be near her family. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up. She also walked on the track at Sportsmed Fitness. She was a member of Gary Methodist Church in Wheaton. Until three months ago, she was still driving her car and studying for her next annual driver's test. She will be missed by her family, but we are thankful to know she is with the Lord!
