Irene Witnik, age 87, a resident of Wheaton, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015. She was born July 22, 1928 in Forest View, Illinois to John and Celestina Yurka.

Irene married Edward Witnik in August, 1955. They lived happily in Stickney for nearly 40 years. They enjoyed spending time with their families, traveling, and the many blessings of a joyous marriage. She loved watching her granddaughters grow up, attending all their activities.

She is survived by her son, Bill (Mary Jo) Witnik of Wheaton, three granddaughters, Christine, Melissa and Megan, seven siblings, Blanche, George, Sally, Ann, Frances, Mary and Frank Yurka and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 1992 and two brothers, John and Joseph.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 23, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. A mass will be held on Monday, August 24, at 10:00 a.m. at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, 22nd St. and Park Blvd., Glen Ellyn, IL. Entombment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.
