Obituary

Inez Hulet, age 94, a resident of Wauconda, Illinois, and formerly a longtime resident of Joliet, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Maple Glen Memory Care in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

Inez was born on March 16, 1930, in Chicago to Rudolph Youngquist and Ellen Youngquist (nee Johansson), both Swedish immigrants.  Her parents met each other in 1926 in Duluth, Minnesota, and married in Chicago shortly after they met.  They raised Inez and her four siblings in a loving and hard-working home as they navigated many difficult times during the depression.

Inez grew up on the south side of Chicago attending Parkside Grammer School and high school at Hyde Park High. She met the love of her life, Don, at her sister Mary Ann's wedding in 1952. Inez and Don quickly knew it was forever love, and they were engaged in December 1952 and were married in September 1953.  Throughout her life, Inez placed great value on spending quality time with both immediate and extended family, and she loved the tradition of annual family reunions. She was an outstanding baker and cook, and learned to bake Swedish Cardamon Rolls from her mother. She passed down this beautiful legacy by teaching her children and grandchildren the recipes of her many famous Christmas cookies. Inez had a great love for being outside, tending to her garden, and watching the birds from her deck in Joliet. Inez also loved to crochet, creating many blankets and afghans, which will be treasured by the family for generations to come.

Inez is survived by her sons, David Hulet and Mitchell Hulet (Janet), grandchildren Zachary Hulet, Kelsey Potter (Aaron), Ryan Hulet, Nina Hulet, great grandchild Lily Potter, sister Mary Ann Rinehart, and many loving nieces and nephews.

She is welcomed into heaven by her devoted husband of 45 years, Donald Hulet, her father Rudolph Youngquist, her mother, Ellen Youngquist – Palermo, her brothers Robert and Jimmie Youngquist, her sister, Margaret Miller, and her daughter in law Susan Hulet.

To honor Inez's life, visitation and prayer service will be held on June 2, from 1 – 5 pm at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, Wheaton, Illinois. Interment will held privately at Chapel Hill Gardens South in Oak Lawn, Illinois.
