Obituary

Ida Pezza, a beloved resident of Carol Stream, Illinois, peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the age of 92. She was born on July 28, 1931, in Chicago. Ida's life was a testament to love, family, and community, leaing a legacy that will forever endure.

Ida spent her formative years in the Chicago area, where she graduated from Proviso East High School. It was through the bonds of work that she crossed paths with the love of her life, Alfred Pezza, with whom she built a life filled with love and shared dreams. Their union in matrimony was a joyous occasion that marked the beginning of a beautiful journey together.

Ida and Alfred raised their family in Berkeley, where she became actively involved with St. John Chrysostom Church in Bellwood. Her unwavering faith and dedication to her church community were a source of inspiration to those who knew her.

Throughout her life, Ida held various roles, including a 30-year tenure at Jewel Food Stores.  After the passing of her husband Alfred she had an active role at Pezza Landscape. Her work ethic and commitment were admired by all who had the privilege of working alongside her. In 1996, she retired to focus on what truly mattered most to her: spending cherished moments with her adored grandchildren.

Ida had a passion for travel that took her to all corners of the world, often in the company of her sisters and other travel enthusiasts. She relished the thrill of exploration and adventure. On quieter evenings, she could be found enjoying a game of Bingo at the VFW with her family, creating memories that will forever be cherished.

One of Ida's greatest joys was her Sunday dinners, where she lovingly brought her family together to savor each other's company and delicious meals. Her warmth and hospitality made these gatherings a tradition to be cherished for generations to come.

Ida Pezza is survived by her four children, Alan Pezza, Randy Pezza, Michael (Gina) Pezza, and Susan (Jeff) Vokac. Her legacy continues through her 14 beloved grandchildren, Lisa, Alan, Joe, Ashley, Cassie, Mia, Michael, Danny, Diana, Philip, Andy, Katy, Jeff, and Tommy, 8 great-grandchildren, Demi, Christopher, Joe, AJ, Noelle, Idamarie, Annalise, and Marco, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, SJ and Lyza.  She is also survived by one sister, Lorraine Stevens, and many nieces and nephews.

Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, her brothers  Julius  and John, and her sister, Helen. Their memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved them.

A visitation to celebrate Ida's life will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Hultgren Funeral Home, located at 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, Illinois. A prayer service will follow at 10:30 AM. Subsequently, a Mass to honor her memory will be held at 11:00 AM at St. Mark Catholic Church. Her final resting place will be Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial gifts be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Mercy Home for Boys and Girls in Chicago. These contributions will continue Ida's legacy of love and compassion.

Ida Pezza's departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but her memory will forever shine bright in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. May she rest in eternal peace, her spirit forever watching over her beloved family.
