Howard L Sandlund, 88 years of age and a resident of Carol Stream, IL, died early on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in Winfield, IL. Howard was born on October 5, 1928 of Swedish heritage.

He was raised in Chicago with his two sisters, Doris (Charles) Inskeep and Nancy (Sven) Cederberg. Mr. Sandlund worked for high school District 214 as band director, school administrator and principal. Howard had a love for music, playing trumpet himself. He also enjoyed sports, especially the Cubs. He was a member of the Arlington Heights Evangelical Free Church and College Church in Wheaton.

He married Joy L Wardle on June 13, 1953. Howard loved every minute that he could be with his children: Suzanne (Richard) Olson, Lynne (Larry) Tellschow, Laurie (Doug) Hedlund, Tom, Kathy Woods, Debra (Greg) Stipe and Gary (Lisa). He cherished his 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at College Church , 332 E. Seminary Ave., in Wheaton, IL on Friday, June 9 from 4-8 p.m. with a funeral service on Saturday, June 10, at 2:00 p.m. also at College Church. Following the funeral, interment will be at Wheaton Cemetery.
