Howard T. Morey, age 93, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Central DuPage Hospital.
Howard graduated from LaGrange Township High School. During WWII he served with the 44th Infantry Division, which received the Presidential Unit Citation. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for heroic service in action.
He attended the University of Illinois where he met, and later married, Joyce M. Helmer. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He was president of Westmont Engineering Company until his retirement.
He loved to sing and sang tenor in a barber shop chorus. He and Joyce loved ballroom dancing. He enjoyed fishing and an annual fishing trip to Canada. He was innovative and creative in design. He had a kind and generous heart and was always helping others. While in his 80's he traveled to Kenya for a work project at an orphanage.
He is survived by two children, Doug (Martha), and Jeanne (Roger) Johnson, six grandchildren: Katie (Darin) Hamlin, Erik Johnson, Rachel (Michael) Groat, Megan Johnson, Sarah (Hunter) Holmgren, and Rebecca Morey, and great-grandchildren, Brendan, Asher, and Elisa Hamlin and Caleb and Nathan Holmgren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, son, John, his parents Hannah and Jay Morey, and brothers, Stillman and Kenneth.
He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. He was a wonderful man of God and looked forward to heaven, trusting in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, at 10:00 A.M. at
Community Baptist Church
in Warrenville, 28W444 Main St., Warrenville, IL 60555. Interment will follow at Warrenville Cemetery in Warrenville.
