Herbert "Pat" O'Connor, age 88, a resident of Countryside for 28 years, died Tuesday, January 29, at the Hinsdale Hospital. He was born on November 11, 1919 in Syracuse, New York.

Pat was a veteran of W.W.II having served in both the Army and the Navy. He was the owner of H. P. O'Connor Roofing Company, which served all of the western suburbs. He was an active member of the LaGrange Christian Assembly where he had served as Head Usher and had played in the band.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joyce, seven children, Dolores O'Connor of Downers Grove, Michael (Ramona) O'Connor of Darien, Tracy (Joseph) Streb of Lockport, Sean O'Connor of Chicago, Kristin O'Connor and Patrick O'Connor both of Jackson, TN, and Kara O'Connor of Countryside, 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four daughters, Patricia Jones, Shirley, Roslie, and Kayla O'Connor and one brother, Don Shepard.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 2, from 10:30 until the time of a funeral service at 12:30 at LaGrange Christian Assembly, 5707 Wolf Rd., LaGrange, IL with Rev. Hal Kooistra officiating.

Interment will be held privately at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
