Henry W. (Hank) Tews, age 83, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at home. He was the son of Arthur & Evelyn (nee Jaeger) Tews born September 3, 1934 in Milwaukee, WI. On July 23, 1960, he married the love of his life Diane (nee Krebs) who preceded him in death on February 2, 2015. They made their home in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and raised five children Henry Jr. (Cia), David, Christopher (Sarah), Jason (Michele), and Jennifer (Badger) Cudahy. They are blessed with 10 grandchildren: Evy, Paula, Alison, Amy, David, Jamie, Johnathon, Natalie, Catherine & Amelia.
Other survivors are his sisters Barbara (James) Hein and Shawneen (Daniel) Schmitt, and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Henry was preceded in death by his brother Michael Hackett and sisters Mydelle Weber and Suzanne Stevens.
Henry was an avid fisherman no matter what the weather. He will also be remembered as the founder of Serenity House whose programs have helped thousands of individuals overcome substance use problems since 1985.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21, from 4 until 7:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, November 22 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Petronille Catholic Church, 420 Glenwood Ave, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.
Interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
