Obituary
Helen L. Tompkins, age 95, a lifelong resident of Wheaton, died Tuesday, November 2, at the Wynscape Nursing Center in Wheaton. She was born on August 29, 1909 in Wheaton to Jay and Cora Conover.
She was a member of Gary Memorial United Methodist Church in Wheaton, the V.F.W. Women's Aux. and the Wheaton Women's Club. Helen had worked for the Assessor's office and for the City of Wheaton Water Department. For 60 years she lived at the corner of Wesley St. and Ellis Ave. in Wheaton.
Mrs. Tompkins is survived by two sons, Charles R. (Jacquie) Tompkins of AZ and Bruce E. Tompkins of Wheaton, five grandchildren, Charlene (Rev. Scott) Howington of Wheaton, Craig (Ann) Tompkins of Glen Ellyn, Dennis Tompkins of Wheaton, Sandra Tite of Pinkneyville, IL, and Lisa Tompkins of Carpentersville, and 14 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 5, from 10:00 until the time of a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. Interment will follow at the Wheaton Cemetery.
