Helen Swanson, age 94, a resident of the Windsor Park Manor of Carol Stream since 1988, and formerly a 37 year resident of Geneva, passed away on Saturday, October 25, at Windsor Park's Johnson Healthcare Center. She was born in Morris, IL on February 22, 1914 to Arvid and Nannie Peterson.
Mrs. Swanson was a retired librarian and originated the library system in the Geneva, IL Public Schools. She was a long time member of the United Methodist Church of Geneva.
She is survived by her son David (Carene) Swanson of Houston, TX and a daughter Barbara (Robert) Roos of West Chicago; three grandchildren Erik Swanson, Amy Roos, and Alison (Jeffrey) Crowley, and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Victoria Crowley, a niece, JoAnn Thomas of Cannon Falls, MN, and other loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Harry O. Swanson in 1994.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 23 at 3:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. Friends may visit with the family from 2 until 3 p.m. Interment will be held privately at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva.
