Helen E. Siml, age 94, a resident of Belmont Village in Carol Stream, IL, and formerly of Wheaton, IL, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at home. She was born February 8, 1916 in Chicago, IL.
Helen lived a long, joyful life characterized by her devotion to her family and to her Lord. She enthusiastically raised five children while still finding time to faithfully teach women's Bible classes and Sunday school. She enjoyed writing articles and poems, many to commemorate special occasions. She successfully entered jingle and writing contests. Before it was popular, she was a health food fanatic. She delighted cooking time-consuming, nourishing meals for her large family. She spent many happy summers, first in Lake Geneva and later in northern Wisconsin. Up until the last few months of her life she could be seen "running" down the halls of Belmont Village to various activities there. Most people will remember Helen for her big, bright, constant smile.
She is survived by her children, Arthur M. (Lois) Siml, Cynthia (Dale) Bonga, Anita (John) Armstrong, and Debbie (Dale) Frank; 13 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Dr. Arthur B. Siml, D.D.S.; her daughter, Nancy Gariffo; and her two grandchildren, Kevin Gariffo and Lisa Ojeda.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 14, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park.
In lieu of flowers, it was Helen's wish that memorial gifts in her name be directed to the ministry of ACT 3, (www.act3online.com) P.O. Box 88216, Carol Stream, IL 60188.
