Helen Prokop, age 88, a longtime resident of Chicago and resident of Wheaton, died Monday, November 28, 2011, at Wynscape Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wheaton. She was born April 28, 1923 in Chicago to John and Alexandra Leon.

Helen married Frank Prokop. They lived in Chicago and enjoyed traveling to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and other locations in Illinois on weekends. She enjoyed antiqueing and flea markets. While she was raising her family she was involved in the Mother's clubs, Church events and Bingo. She loved socializing with her neighbors on the front porch of her Chicago bungalow along with gardening. At Wynscape she enjoyed all the activities, especially the musical events.

She is survived by her son, Gary (Judy) Prokop of Wheaton, two granddaughters, Hannah and Madeline Prokop, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her parents, four brothers, and one sister, Jean Muttschall, who she cared for in her later life.

A visitation will be held Friday, December 2, from 3 to 8:30 at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, where prayers will be held on Saturday at 9:30 A.M. A funeral service will be follow at 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael Church. Interment will be held at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles, Illinois.
