Obituary
Helen I. Olson, age 87, a former resident of Berkeley and Bellwood, died Saturday, September 3, at the Johnson Medical Center at Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream. She was born in Shoshoni, WY on July 31, 1918 to Andrew and Marie Olson.
Helen graduated from Proviso East High School and the University of IL with a degree in nutrition. She served as a 1st Lt. WAC during WWII, working as a nutritionist. For many years she worked for Tappan in Itasca. She enjoyed Norwegian Rosemaling Painting and played the organ at several churches. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elmhurst.
She is survived by seven nieces and nephews, Larry (Phyllis) Olson, Betty (Ken) Lundgren, Sondra Callahan, Irene Olson, Pam (Richard) Manuel, Warren (Eugenia) Olson, Wendy Clifford, a sister-in-law - Jean Olson and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, four brothers - Orville, Tilford, Elmer, and Arden - and a nephew - Gordon (Eugenia, still living).
A graveside service will be held at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst. Contact Hultgren Funeral Home for times.
