Helen L. Olberg (née Malott), 85, of Wheaton, IL passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, with her family by her side. She was born on August 29, 1940, in Hamilton, OH, to Jerry Dale and Mollie Malott (née Blaine).

Helen grew up in Middleton, OH and graduated from Monroe High School, class of 1958. After high school Helen went on to attend Miami University in Oxford, OH and earned a degree in Mathematics. After school Helen took a job at IBM and worked as a systems engineer and systems engineering manager for over 13 years before retiring in 1973. After spending several years joyfully raising her kids, she taught computer classes at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL and later started a computer consulting business, helping various local businesses with database creation and support. Helen always had stories to tell about her time working with IBM and solving people's computer problems.

In 1970 Helen met the love of her life, Lowell E. Olberg, while working on a shared project for IBM. The two were married on April 30, 1971, at Hauge Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chicago. The couple lived in Chicago before settling in Wheaton in 1977.

In her free time Helen enjoyed spending time with family and working on computers and jigsaw puzzles. Her family will always remember her ever positive attitude and how whenever they called, she was always thinking about them. She loved to travel with her husband and spend time at their cabin in Wisconsin. She was always ready with helpful advice on a variety of topics. She was a longtime member of Christ Church of Oak Brook.

Helen leaves behind her loving husband of 54 years, Lowell Olberg; her adoring children Thor (Jana) Olberg, Knut (Wendy) Olberg, Jenny (Ed) Wilcoski, her beloved grandchildren Brokk Olberg, Kaia Olberg, Emma Olberg, Aleksander Wilcoski, Nathan Wilcoski, Soren Olberg, Signy Olberg and Addison Olberg. Helen also leaves behind one brother, James (Sophia) Malott.

Helen was preceded in passing by her parents, Jerry Dale Malott and Mollie Malott Florkey; granddaughter Dagny Olberg, sister Jerry Fogle and sister Jane Branson.

The Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hultgren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 304 N Main St, Wheaton, IL 60187. The Funeral Service will be held the next day, Friday, October 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Norway Cemetery in Norway, IL, at 1:30 PM on Friday October 24, 2025.
