Helen Neumann, age 96, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. She was born in Coplay, Pennsylvania to John & Mary Turick.
Helen (Turick) Neumann lived a long and fruitful life. She was guided by her strong faith and love for her family. She was a kind, generous and supportive wife, mother, and daughter. She maintained an active connection with all of her family and never failed to give her all in any given situation. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; she always had a sweet treat ready for the little ones. Helen deeply cherished her time spent with all her children and their spouses, grandchildren and their spouses and great grandkids.
Helen's life was long, but she remained active and independent until her death. She enjoyed her home, gardening and traveling . She was always ready for the next adventure, whether it was a camping trip or international travel! Helen was compassionate towards all God's creatures; she was a true animal lover. She passionately advocated for environmental, climate, wildlife and domestic animal causes, generously contributing to many charitable organizations. Helen was a true nature lover. She also was an exceptionally enthusiastic football fan, often talking stats with her grandsons. Helen was an active participant in sports as well, bowling in a league until the age of 95! She was very proud of her 200 games!
Most of all Helen was an inspiration, her positivity, wisdom, perseverance and good humor enamored her to all who knew and loved her. She was ALWAYS there for us. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her two children Patricia Mulligan of Carol Stream and Kathryn Neumann (Michael Hughes) of Seattle, WA; four grandchildren, Shawn (Jamie) Mulligan of Largo, FL, Casey (Heather Fenderson) Mulligan of Inverness, FL, Kyle (Jacqueline) Mulligan of Geneva, IL and Samuel Hughes of Seattle, WA; her three great-grandchildren August Mulligan of Largo, FL, Bodie & Elliot Mulligan of Geneva, IL. Also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, August; her son Laurence of Evergreen, CO; and her five siblings.
A visitation will be held at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187, on Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church, 101 West Loop Road, Wheaton, IL 60189, on Monday, September 25, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Prayers will begin at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Interment St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton.
