Helen Marjorie Medendorp, age 76, a resident of Wheaton, died Tuesday, June 14, at home. She was born November 23, 1928 in Oak Park to Fred and Helen Johansen.

Helen grew up and attended high school in Oak Park. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1950. She married Alan Roy Medendorp in August of 1949. After living in Monmouth, IL for 2 years, they moved to Wheaton in 1952.

Helen and Alan joined First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton where she taught nursery school and participated in the Presbyterian Women's Circle. She loved homemaking, cooking and attending athletic events of her children and grandchildren. She was active in Department Club, various bridge groups and enjoyed crocheting, making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and singing in Silvertones.

She is survived by her five children, Ken (Margy) Medendorp of Hartland, WI, Marilyn (Rick) Huffman of Wheaton, Carol Medendorp of Wheaton, Dan (Lisa) Medendorp of Bartlett, and Sarah (Chris) Tews of Wheaton; eleven grandchildren; her brother, Don (Janet) Johansen of Glen Ellyn; and her sister, Judy (Jack) Surfus of Waynesville, NC.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Alan, in 1978; her parents; and her infant sister, Betty Jean Johansen.

A memorial visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, June 17, at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Interment is private.
