Helen A. Latham, age 92, a resident of Batavia, IL, died April 29, 2016, at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva, IL. She was born September 9, 1923 in Clear Lake, IA.

Helen attended a number of schools after graduating from Clear Lake High School, but remembers most fondly her time at Taylor University in Upland, IN. After teaching in Iowa for two years, she served as a missionary with the West Indies Mission for seven years and finished her missionary service in Jamaica for 2 years. She returned to the U.S. and taught in the Chicago Public School system for many years. Trusting Christ as her Savior at an early age, her faith was the most important part of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Margaret Latham; her brothers, Richard and John; her sisters, Betty, Fran, Rosemary and Beverly. She is survived by her sisters, Lucy Peevy of Tulsa, OK, and Veronica Enabnit of Tuscon, AZ; her brothers-in-law, Kenny DeWitt of IA, and Lewis Rutledge of MI; as well as many nieces, nephews, her friends the Thayer family of Naperville, IL and her many church friends at Evangel Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Evangel Baptist Church , 1900 Manchester Road, in Wheaton, IL. Interment will take place at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Clear Lake, IA in early June.
