Helen Siml deVette went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 24. She passed away at home while holding the hand of her beloved husband of 50 years, Dr. Robert deVette.

The two of them met while teaching at Wheaton College where Helen taught English, and Robert taught Spanish for many years. After retirement, their great joy was following the lives and careers of their many students. Over the years, Helen and Bob attended 1st Baptist Church, Wheaton Bible Church, and then College Church.

Helen was preceded in death by her brothers, Dr. Arthur (Helen) Siml and Dr. Boudy (Grace) Siml. She leaves behind her husband, Dr. Robert deVette; eight nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 28 at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187 from 4 pm until 7 pm. A funeral service celebrating Helen's life well lived will be held on Friday, June 29 at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
