Helen Minerva Bartlett, 91, of Bloomingdale, formerly of Wheaton, died Sunday, August 17, 2014, at Wynscape Rehabilitation Center, Wheaton, following a brief period of declining health. Born in Wheaton, IL, on June 14, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Roy George Bartlett, Sr., and Laura Estella Guild Bartlett.

She was a graduate of Wheaton High School and Lindenwood College for Women in St. Charles, MO, and served in the U. S. Marine Corps Reserves during World War II. She studied Physical Therapy at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, earning her physical therapy credential. Her fifty-year career in the field took her to Hines Veterans Hospital, Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, CA, and educational and rehabilitation locations in Hammond, IN, Savannah, GA, and Washington, DC. She returned home and served as Director of Physical Therapy at Central DuPage Hospital for over twenty years. After a brief period of retirement she served another seven years with a local rehabilitation consultation group, retiring for the second time in 1997.

Helen was a longtime member of Wheaton Bible Church, where she worked in the video section of their library. She volunteered in the "Repeat Boutique" where clothing and other materials are distributed to new immigrants in DuPage County. Her service also reached into the Wheaton community, where she was a member of the environmental commission for a number of years, and she was the coordinator of the yearly cleanup of the Illinois Prairie Path. Bicycling was one of her joys, and in addition to riding to work and riding on the Illinois Prairie Path, she was also the senior member of a group touring on bicycle through Belgium. She also volunteered at SCARCE, the environmental recycling and educational center in Glen Ellyn, on whose behalf she placed collection boxes for used cell phones in area businesses and was very involved with other community recycling efforts. She also advocated for the recycling program at her residence at Alden Gardens.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Roy George Bartlett, Jr., and Robert Everett Bartlett, Sr.

Helen is survived by her niece Elsie Jane Bartlett, of Valdese, NC, and nephews Roy George Bartlett, III and wife Jurine, of Amboy, Il, Robert E. Bartlett, Jr. and wife Norine Gutekanst of Oak Park, and Larry Bartlett and wife Janice Hagginbotham of Bethesda, Md, and great nieces Megan Bartlett, Claire Bartlett, Lucy Bartlett, and Nora Bartlett and one great nephew Kent Bartlett. She is also survived by her dear and devoted friend Nancy McCausland of Wheaton.
