Heinz H. Wegner, age 80, a resident of Wheaton for 52 years, died October 2, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. He was born on October 11, 1926 in Zdraven, Germany.

Mr. Wegner was a veteran serving with the US Army in the Philippines during W.W.II. He retired from Commonwealth Edison after 43 years of service. He
was a longtime member of College Church where he served as an usher for many years and enjoyed fellowship with the Keenagers. He especially enjoyed spending summers in his home in Eagle River, WI. He was an avid gardener and while in Eagle River he enjoyed fishing, swimming and boating.

He is survived by three children, Alice M. (Michael) Berndt of Three Lakes, WI, Charles H. (Mary) Wegner of Warrenville, and Christine R. Wegner of Wheaton; seven grandchildren, Donald L. (Denise), Timothy H., Steven A., Charles A. (Stephanie), Maranda S., Melissa A., and Joseph W.; five great-grandchildren, Sarah C., Donald P. and Joshua T. Clayton, and Alana M. and Andrew L. Wegner; his brother, Frank W. (Rosemary) Wegner; and brother-in-law, Charles L. (Janet) Strobeck of Wheaton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Marie in 2004, his daughter, Susan H. Wegner; and his parents, Walter and Helene Wegner.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 3, from 4-8 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 4 at 2:00 P.M. at College Church in Wheaton, 332 E. Seminary Ave. Interment will be private at Wheaton Cemetery.
