Harriet V. Pruett, age 68, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and child of God, died Wednesday, October 11, at home. She was born November 12, 1937 in Chicago. She was a longtime resident of Wheaton, and formerly of Glen Ellyn.
Harriet was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton where she served as an elder, as a Stephen's Minister, and was also a participant in the Logos program. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, tennis, golf, running, and skiing. She loved to go biking with her grandchildren. She never lost a love of learning, and finished her college degree when she was 53 years old.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard; her two children, Vance (Matt) Hanifen of Atlanta, GA, and Chuck (Pat) Pruett of Huntley, IL; two grandchildren, Kate and Keegan Hanifen; and her aunt, Anna Leake of Mt. Juliet, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Helen Barbour.
A memorial celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, October 15, at 3:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, at the corner of Jefferson and Ellis. Interment is private.
