Sorensen
January 6, 1925 – December 22, 2018
Harold E. Sorensen, age 93, a resident of Wheaton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 22, 2018. He was born January 6, 1925 in Chicago to Harold and Anna Marie Sorensen.
Harold grew up on the Northside of Chicago where he graduated from Schurz High School. On December 7, 1943 he joined the US Army Air Corps where he served during the war until October 22, 1945. Upon returning home, he proposed to Dorothy Benson and they were married on November 15, 1947.
Harold worked for Western Electric in Cicero for over 30 years, where he retired in 1986. He enjoyed bird watching, fishing and most of all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by two children, Mary Sorensen and Donald (Ginny) Sorensen, four grandchildren, Chrissy Sorensen, Mark (Kelly) Sorensen, Sarah (Jackson) Vandiver and Angela (Alex) Turner, and seven great-grandchildren, Luke, JJ, Ryan, Emma, Charlotte, Tyler and Lilah. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 2002, his parents and one brother, Robert.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, from 10:30 until 12:00 noon at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, where a funeral service will be held at noon. Interment will follow at Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park, Illinois.
