Harding "Hop" Holloway, age 85, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, died Thursday, November 29. He was born on April 21, 1922 to Harding and Betty Holloway in Detroit, MI.

Hop was a loving husband and father who proudly cared for his wife and two children. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed sports of all kinds. He was an excellent musician and loved singing in the Hilltop Lakes Chapel choir at his home church in Hilltop Lakes, Texas. Hop and his wife Jean moved to Windsor Park Manor in October of 2002.

Hop proudly served his country for twenty-one years in the United States Marine Corps. He retired as a Major in 1964. He distinguished himself as a fighter pilot in World War II and the Korean War receiving over seventy combat medals including five Distinguished Flying Crosses. He flew over 125 combat missions. He was shot down, captured, and rescued twice. After retiring from the Marine Corps, Hop had a second career as director of procurement for Bechtel Construction Company.

He is survived by his two children Christy (Jerry) Watkins, and Rob (Dona) Holloway; grandchildren, Kelly (Fred) Versluys, Todd (Shauna) Watkins, Amanda (Skye) Jethani, Lindsay (Nathaniel) Funk, Ryan Watkins, and Scott Holloway; great-grandchildren, Haley, Madelyn, Benjamin, and Jack Versluys; Noah and Jacob Watkins; Zoe and Isaac Jethani.; his two sisters Virginia and Margaret.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jean who passed away this August.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 6, at 1:00 P.M. at Windsor Park Manor, 124 Windsor Park Dr. at North Ave., (just west of Gary Ave.) in Carol Stream. Graveside Service will be private at Wheaton Cemetery.
