Guy Robert Spayth, 83, a long time resident of Wheaton, passed away August 29, 2023. He was born on March 22, 1940 in Plymouth, MI to Robert and Ruth Spayth.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janet; his children Jeff (Michele) Spayth, Keith (Lori) Spayth, Guy Spayth Jr. (Amy), Greg Spayth (Julie), Jorie Fanter (Nate); and grandchildren Robby, Sara, Caroline, Molly, Ryan, Morgan, Ellis, Nicole (Bryan) Smith, Christi Wessel, Jeffery Spayth, Brandon (Whysper) Spayth, Kyle Spayth, Brittany (Rob) Cummings. As well as his 9 great-grandchildren; Sierra Moore, Madison Moore, Aurora Smith, Aayden Wessel, Emily Wessel, Willow Spayth, Bentley Spayth, Cali Cummings, Caleb Cummings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tom Spayth and sister Verna Spayth.

Guy served in the Army and was stationed at Thule Air Base in Greenland. He also spent more than 30 years as a Wheaton police officer, retiring as a commander in 2001. After retirement, Guy spent many years working security at The Chicagoland Speedway for their various events. Throughout his life, he enjoyed coaching his kids' sports teams, attending their games and track meets, and supporting all of his grandkids' activities. Guy had a passion for watching/attending NASCAR races and was a Corvette enthusiast. He loved researching his family genealogy and collecting police car models as well. He was always up for a tasty treat of ice cream with his grandkids.

A private interment with military honors will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
