Guy Blaise Burgess was born in Chicago, IL on June 12, 1941. The only child of Edmund C. Burgess, a lawyer, and Charlotte J. Kraft, a music teacher, Guy graduated from Roger C. Sullivan High School in 1960.
He enlisted in the Army where he served three years active duty and three years in reserves and was honorably discharged in 1966, earning a Good Conduct Medal in the process. Guy had a lifelong love for the railroads, even working for them a short time. For most of his life he was a truck driver doing local hauling of sand and gravel for the construction industry. He owned his own truck and was proud of the fact that he was his own businessman.
Guy retired in 2008 and spent much of his time traveling the rail yards and filming trains. He had a great knowledge of the make and model of most any rail car and engine on the tracks. He was a member of a model railroading club where he would run his vast collection of HO trains, most of which he assembled and painted.
Hampered by diabetes and other ailments, he spent the last couple years of his life in a nursing home enjoying watching rail road DVD's and westerns including a large collection of John Wayne movies. Guy passed away peacefully on September 16th, 2013.
